Create your individual poppy to be part of a unique public sculpture
Become part of Forged in Remembrance — a unique sculpture created from individually forged poppies, each carrying its own story.
Forge your own poppy with Chris, which will be finished with a brass tag bearing a name of your choice. All poppies will then brought together to create the memorial at Southgate Masonic Centre on display during November 2026, after which you can collect your poppy.

Full-Day Blacksmithing Experiences
I’m currently reviewing the knife-making and axe-making classes at
Chiltern Forge. With current commissions keeping the forge busy,
bookings for these experiences are on hold for now.
Updated details and dates will be shared here when they’re ready. In
the meantime, you can get hands-on at the anvil with one of our half-day
experiences.
Frequently asked questions
What should I wear?
The forge can be warm near the fire but cool in other areas, especially in winter.
We recommend:
- warm layers
- long trousers
- sturdy clothing
- closed-toe shoes
- long hair tied back
PPE is provided on site.
Is there parking at the forge?
Yes, parking is available in designated areas only. Please follow the signs or any instructions from your instructor when you arrive.
Do you provide lunch?
Lunch is not provided, so please bring your own food. You’re welcome to use the seating area during breaks.
We do provide refreshments:
- tea
- coffee
- water
You’re welcome to bring your own drinks as well.
Can I arrive early?
You can arrive up to 10 minutes before your session. This helps us manage safety checks and preparation.
Is the forge accessible?
The forge is a working industrial environment with uneven surfaces.
If you have accessibility needs, please contact us before booking so we can advise.
Can I bring spectators?
For safety reasons, spectators are not permitted inside the forge during sessions.
